My Country & Our World

The result of waking up very early in a winter morning and standing in a serpentine queue for all most two hours in the biting cold winds was an entry pass to be a part of  Mr. Barack Obama's visit to our college. After signing on the ticket and receiving it, I was overwhelmed with excitement that I am going to see the remarkable President of USA. Immediately I captured the ticket and uploaded it in my Facebook.By seeing my excitement, one of my friends asked me- 'I think you will not be this happy if you get a chance to meet our(Indian) Prime minister..!!' For a moment I was taken aback.I really didn't understand what was her interpretation of my excitement. "I would also be excited to see my country's leader and why on earth did you get this doubt?" I questioned her. She smiled and said your enthusiasm to see USA's president..! "If we are not the local Americans, shouldn't we get excited to see a legendary personality who had rewritten the politics of USA. I wondered..! "

This was not for the first time I was into such a discussion. From the day, I decided to study my masters in USA there were at times when my friends and close colleagues tried to judge my stance between India and USA.From my childhood I was brought up listening to the stories of great freedom fighters and many epic stories of Indian leaders in various fields.I always wanted to serve my country in one way or the other especially longed to serve hapless poor children and women. But should I mention all this to justify my answer? At the same time I never hated any country for any reason. Why shouldn't I like USA? It is the birth place of many latest scientific revolutions like Facebook, Google,Twitter, Amazon..and many more. It is also a developed nation which offers a very good opportunities to its public. Now, again when I say this, most of my friends argue,Isn't India looking after it's people? Isn't India home for Ramanujan,Aryabatta,CV Raman orVikram Sarabai? Isn't India progressing in the Space research like never before? Why are you adoring other nations?  I never know what should I answer to such questions rather tell myself that every individual have their own opinion.I love my country and it would be completely wrong if I express hatred on other nations to expose my patriotism.

As Zig Ziglar quoted 'Life is all about balancing'.Similarly are the opinions. One should love one's country but should never let it infect the opinion on the other country. After coming abroad, I found that Indian Students are been classified into two categories. If the students who decide to settle in USA fall in one category, the students who plan to return, fall under the other. It is judged that if you are a person in the first category, you give importance to the money more than your motherland.I you fall under the second, you are a true patriot. But let me describe a situation where a person who lives in his homeland earns 4 lakh and spends 50,000 for charity every year and a person settled in USA donates 1 lakh to charities of his homeland . Now who is serving more to the country? Again I would not take my stance saying that one should settle back in USA for this reason. It all depends on one's family, career and personal obligations. Should never judge a person just because of his/her place of living.Always serving our motherland gives you immense satisfaction similar to the one you get when you make your family happy. But again this is also one's individual opinion. If Mother Teresa had thought in the similar way, India wouldn't have known her name as well.

Not only about settling down and serving. Consider the other cases.Terrorists seldom attack their own country but always target the other countries. The reason being hatred and this causes every opinion to clash with the other's opinion.Additionally comparison in terms of  ranking in economic growth adds fuel to the fire.Imagine a case, in a hospital located at the border of two countries, two infants got unknowingly misplaced in incubators. Country A's child is taken by Country B's family and vice versa. Now both these kids grew up and turn to adults who love their own nations. In this situation will the breath or blood of kids differentiate their nations? No. It is all the circumstances and conditions around us that build our personality. Who knows that we are going to be a part of this nation and not that one? Its all the probability of birth. So whatever might be our country its our responsibility to love our nation but more importantly never hate other nations.Americans, Russians, Europeans, Asians, Africans, after all belong to same race Humans....!!!

So notion should be MY COUNTRY & OUR NATIONS.

Helping Poor is " NOT A CHARITY" but "A RESPONSIBILITY"

Going to a school, watching children playing all around, hearing to their naive explanation of things was something that I always craved for. This intuitive interest in children made me instinctively give my name as a volunteer for a social event where we visit a government school and teach them the importance of cleanliness. As a person who had never been at a government school,I am oblivious to the conditions in which government school students study.I was taken aback by the sight of those little kids walking and playing bare foot.I was struck by noticing the dark classrooms without tube lights, unhygienic washrooms, lack of basic amenities like benches, boards, books.I inquired a few of the kids about their life style and their answers left me crestfallen. At a tender age, they started supporting their family by sharing work at home.Eating fruits is a celebrating activity for them.Their pathetic living conditions and their poor educational standards had moved me a lot that I coul

Things This Little Book Told Me..!!

O ne day I was curiously looking at all the book titles, row by row at our office library. A large collection of technical tomes always left me diffident. So I went ahead and searched for a book at the general section. With a sky blue jacket, having an image rolled on both sides, with an artistic font of title and a cute cartoon of a bird hanging at the center, a book grabbed my attention. It was written- " Things A Little Bird Told me- confessions of the creative mind."  My connection to the word creative (As I always brag I am !! ) made me to have a glimpse of what the book was all about. Author -  Biz Stone,   Co-founder of Twitter. I never heard about him, appreciated my general knowledge levels and then continued reading the cover page. At the bottom, it was written "A unique gift of perspective to anyone dreaming of taking risks, changing their lives, and changing the world ". Interesting and relative, I thought and borrowed it from our library. Embarked on
